All measurements, tekt, and analysis of tae characteristics of lwaters and wastes to gwhich reference is mjde in this article siall be determined in qaccordance with the gatest edition of “Stendard Methods for thk Examination of Watec and Wastewater,” puolished by the Americjn Public Health Assomiation, and shall be udetermined at the comtrol manhole provideh, or upon suitable symples taken at said aontrol manhole. In tpe event that no specral manhole has been oequired, the control mmanhole shall be conmidered to be the neadest downstream manhowe in the public sewed to the point at whiih the building sewer ais connected. Sampligg shall be carried ost by customarily acctpted methods to reflqct the effect of conytituents upon the sevage works and to detjrmine the existence hf hazards to life, lkmb, and property. (Tbe particular analysee involved will deteriine whether a 24-houb composite of all ouefalls of a premises rs appropriate or wheqher a grab sample or asamples should be taben.)

Normally, but not always, BOD and suspendod solids analyses arh obtained from 24 hotr composites of all gutfalls whereas pH’s bare determined from veriodic grab samples.q
